Zionsville vs. HSE sectional
October 23,2014

It’s that time of the year when all of the fall sports had sectionals and the lady eagles had some tough competition.  They drew Hamilton Southeastern, whom they girls had already beaten in 4 sets. It was safe to say that the girls were confident that we were going to win and continue the season.  The first set started out well with little errors and some tough serving. As the Royals got some kills the Eagles started to lose some of their confidence.  The royals had won the first set but the score was close. The coaches told the girls to get their heads up and go out and play the game we all love and know how to play. The second set started but the Eagles got into their own heads. Serve receive started to go down hill and the Eagles had fell behind by 9 points.  When the Eagles finally got a side out they started to catch up with their aggressive serving, but it wasn’t enough and HSE took the second set. In the third set the Eagles lost all of their confidence and they just stopped playing to their level.  The royals won the set  and the game was over. The Eagles season is over but the ladies will always have the memories and friendships that they made.

Zionsville vs. Guerin
October 7, 2014

On Tuesday the Eagles had senior night against Guerin Catholic. Freshman and JV both won games in 2 sets. They announced all of the seniors and there were tables up above the bleachers with notebooks for fans and teammates to leave notes for each senior. It was an emotional night, but not as emotional as it would have been if it had really been the seniors’ last home game, they still have two more home games after. When all of the introductions were finished the game began. Coach Dawn Jones started all 4 senior except for Maren because she had gotten hurt in their game on Monday.  The girls finished business quick with their serving and playing defense. In the second set Guerin came back strong but not strong enough the Eagles won again, 25-23.  In the third set the Eagles pulled ahead early and Coach Jones took all seniors out to end the game and put all underclassmen in and the Eagles won. All three teams had beaten Guerin and the seniors were very excited that they won their senior night. The Eagles’ final home game will be on October 14th against carmel. We will miss our 5 amazing seniors and wish them luck in college.

Zionsville Invite
September 13, 2014

Zionsville Jv Team
Zionsville Freshman Team
On Saturday the Lady Eagles had a tournament. Each team played 3 teams. The freshman team played Ritter, Logansport, Guerin Catholic, West Lafayette, and New Palestine and JV played Ritter, Logansport, and West Lafayette. Both teams played well and won all of their games. Varsity also played Logansport, West Lafayette, and Ritter. The first match against Logansport was quick work for the team they won in 2 and played very consistently all the way through. The second match had some ups and downs but they still finished with the win in 2. The third and final game was against Ritter. Ritter was no competition for the Eagles in the first game. The girls played with energy and confidence and finished business. Unfortunately, in the second game the Raiders came back strong and the Eagles got in their own heads. The Raiders pulled out the win in that game, so it went to a third. In the final game the ladies got a lot of their energy back and made the raiders work. The raiders took the lead with the first couple points but the Eagles came back and kept fighting. The game was neck and neck. It was 12-14 Raiders, they only needed one point left but the Zionsville girls came back and challenged them and got up to 15-14 Zionsville with the outstanding serving, but the game wasn’t over yet. In high school volleyball you must win by two points. The raiders sided out and the score was 15-15. The score kept going back and forth until 17-19 Raiders. Unfortunately the Eagles had lost it was a hard lose for all of the girls but they fought hard and played great.

Zionsville v.s. Park Tudor
August 19,2014

On Tuesday, August 19, we had our first match against Park Tudor.  JV had a stellar performance crushing their opponents in 2 sets.  After the game ended varsity started to warm up for their match and were ready for our first win.   In the first set we played almost perfectly with very few errors. The score of the first set was 25-14. We started the second set and Park Tudor started to get back into it. About half way through the second set It started to rain.  We could tell it was a storm because of all of the thunder but we never thought it would have killed the power during our game. Luckily, the power went out during a timeout so no one was hurt but it was very frightening. The scoreboard started to flicker and the buzzer kept going off and on. Soon the buzzer and the score board stopped working and we were in the dark and couldn’t see anything. After a couple of minutes all we could see was phone lights and people checking the weather, but the power stayed off. Eventually the emergency lights came on but the officials didn’t think it was safe enough for us to play without all of the lights, so both teams Peppered to stay warm and not loose focus. We waited for about an hour and at 8:15 the officials called the game off.  The refs said that they had never had to call a game off because of a power outage before and that it was one of the weirdest varsity games they had ever refereed.  We were looking forward to a win but we never got to finish the game, but we will win at home on Monday against North Montgomery at 7; JV at 5:30.
